Main Description
A simulator simulates the operation of the environment of the (part of the) test object to be tested. A simulator is used
to test software for which it is too costly, dangerous or even impossible to test the actual environment, e.g. testing the
operating software for an aircraft or nuclear reactor. The simulator communicates with the test object as if it were the
actual environment. It supplies input to the test object and receives its output. Simulators are generally not standard and
must be developed in parallel with the development of the test object. The simulator in turn must also be tested. |
