Phase: Implementation
The Implementation phase is the second phase of transition which begins once the preparation required for transition has been completed and required designs are in place. This is typically the longest of all the phases in the transition project.

Description

During Implementation phase, the Engagement Manager (Transition) is essentially focused on ensuring the execution of transition activities as planned and collaboration across various transition streams.

 

Specifically, the following signals the beginning of the Implementation phase:

 

  • Project plan, transition budget and Service Governance Plan developed
  • Transition team on board and ready to start work
  • Knowledge Exchange Approach finalized
  • Staffing plan developed
  • Process requirements and gap analysis completed
  • Knowledge Exchange Approach and Knowledge Exchange Plan developed
  • Technical environmental reviews completed
  • List of all in-flight or planned projects that might impact transition identified.

Key activities of this phase are :

 

  • Execution of Knowledge Exchange Plan
  • Development of processes and Service Engagement Model
  • Identification of key roles holders
  • Execution of trainings
  • Finalization of Service Level Agreements
  • Establishment of technical environment
  • Setup of infrastructure and facilities
  • Induction and ramp up service teams
  • Agreement on Mechanics For Support WIP and Mechanics For In-Flight Projects.

By the end of this phase all deliverables identified in the contract and Transition Plan must be completed and ready for validation. All inputs for Operational Readiness Assessments must be completed.

 

Tollgate “Implementation Complete” marks the completion of this phase.
