This is the penultimate phase of transition. At the end of this phase service commences and business as usual is taken over by the Service Delivery Teams.

Description

Once the transition activities and deliverables are validated and accepted, Finalization phase focuses on obtaining formal sign-offs from Client and other stakeholders as required by contract. It also ensures that required artifacts have been turned over to the Service Delivery Teams.

 

Specifically, the following signals the beginning of the Finalization phase:

 

  • Service Engagement Model components validated
  • Service engagement artifacts published
  • Operational Readiness Assessments (ORA) executed
  • Service Delivery Processes & tools validated and published
  • Technology And Infrastructure tested and deployed.

 

The completion of all the activities in this phase typically means that the Service Delivery Team is ready to commence services as per contract.

 

Key activities of this phase are –

 

  • Obtaining sign-off from stakeholders
  • Transferring staff
  • Ramping-up and on-boarding resources
  • Finalizing processes, technology and infrastructure
  • Implementing cutover to delivery
  • Freezing on WIP
  • Completing handover to the Service Delivery Teams.

 

The completion of the Finalization phase typically means all deliverables and artifacts have been turned over to the Services Delivery Teams and cataloged in appropriate knowledge repository. Also additional work plans for any exceptions from the transition are developed and turned over to the Service Delivery Teams.

 

Tollgate “Service Commencement Achieved” marks the completion of this phase.
